Harissa Chicken Meatballs

These baked harissa meatballs are a flavorful twist on a classic dish. My favorite ways to serve these are as an appetizer with a lemon yogurt dipping sauce, or in a quinoa or couscous bowl with roasted veggies.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 1 pound ground chicken

  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 2 tablespoons harissa paste

  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh mint (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, harissa, garlic powder, salt, cumin, paprika, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently with a fork or damp hands just until thoroughly combined. Shape the mixture into approximately 24 meatballs; place on the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through and lightly browned, 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with mint. Serve hot with your favorite side dish or dipping sauce.
