Homemade Chocolate Syrup

This is my step-mom's chocolate syrup recipe, and everyone says it's better than Hershey's! Great on ice cream, in chocolate milk, or drizzled on warm brownies.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 16 servings

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 ½ cups white sugar

  • 1 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 dash salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Gather all ingredients.

  2. Combine water, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together in a saucepan over low heat; whisk constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to simmer.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla

  4. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate until serving.
