Chicken Soup Ingredients

These are the simple ingredients you'll need for this chicken soup recipe:

· Seasonings: Simply season the soup with salt, pepper, and chicken bouillon granules (if you want).

How to Make Chicken Soup

You'll find the full, step-by-step recipe below — but here's a brief overview of what you can expect when you make this easy chicken soup:

1. Make the stock by boiling the chicken and veggies until the meat is falling off the bone.
2. Remove the chicken and cut into pieces (discard skin and bones).
3. Strain the vegetables (reserving the stock) and cut into pieces. Rinse the pot.
4. Return everything to the pot. Heat the soup through and season to taste.

How to Store Chicken Soup

Allow the chicken soup to cool, then transfer it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for three to four days. Reheat thoroughly in the microwave or on the stove.

Can You Freeze Chicken Soup?

Yes! You can freeze chicken soup for up to six months. Pour serving-sized portions of the cooled soup into freezer bags labeled with the date. Leave a little room at the top to allow for expansion, then squeeze out the excess air and freeze flat. Reheat on the stove.

Allrecipes Community Tips and Praise

"This was the best recipe and so easy to make," says Kathleen Stahl. "I made a double batch and used some of the chicken and broth to make a homemade chicken pot pie and it was so yummy!"

"This has always been my go-to favorite soup during the cooler winter months," says another Allrecipes community member. "It's also perfect for my toddler when he's not feeling well. The only thing I do differently is roast the veggies and chicken in the oven with a generous coating of olive oil and seasonings before putting it in the pot."

"Wonderful soup," according to Laurie Varner. "I also cooked orzo pasta separately and added it to the soup. You can also sprinkle some Parmesan cheese too!

Speculaas Cookies or Spicy Sinterklass Cakes

Speculaas Cookies or Spicy Sinterklass Cakes

This traditional Dutch cookie recipe came with a mold I got 20 years ago. Speculaas is a corruption of the Latin speculum (mirror). The dough is pressed into carved molds that can be used for wall decorations. When turned out onto the cookie sheet, the picture appears as its mirror image, hence the name. In the Sinterklass season they are available in 2/3 cookie size to huge thick men and women up to 1 pound known as lovers. If molds are not available, roll dough to desired thickness and use gingerbread man cutter or other cutter shapes. They are great to make ahead around Christmas because they last a long time.

Oat-Free and Gluten-Free Granola Bars (Clean Eating)

This oat-free granola bar is an excellent substitute for the traditional granola bar if you are trying to avoid certain grains and processed sugars. After trying these, my husband refuses to eat traditional granola bars and begs me to keep them in stock in our freezer. This is also wonderful on top of ice cream or baked apples.
