Ingredients
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 cups quick cooking oats
-
1 ½ cups packed brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1 ¼ cups butter, melted
-
2 cups apples - peeled, cored and sliced
-
½ cup chopped walnuts
-
1 ½ cups caramel topping
-
½ cup all-purpose flour
Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 15x10-inch jellyroll pan.
-
To make the crust: Combine flour, quick cooking oats, brown sugar, and baking soda in a large bowl; stir in melted butter and mix until crumbly. Press 1/2 of the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes.
-
To make the caramel filling: combine caramel topping and remaining 1/2 cup of flour in a small pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
-
Spread apple slices evenly over the baked crust; sprinkle nuts on top. Pour caramel filling over apple layer; crumble remaining crust mixture over the top of everything. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes. Cool before cutting into bars.
